Dimension E510 POWER supply

Support is telling me my power supply is not upgradeable. I do not understand why I can not buy a 600 watt PS and swap out the 305 that is there.

Anyone know what potential problems or limitations I would have doing this? Seems simple to just swap it out.

The reason for a larger PS is to put a larger dual DVI video card in and it requires a larger PS.

Any input welcome  and no I am not buying a better system ....

The Dell Techies are wrong, the 510 power supply can be upgraded.

5150/E510 systems do not use a Dell proprietary power supply, you can install most generic ATX power supplies with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector. As the D-5150/E510 has an open back panel, a power supply with or without the on/off switch can be used and can be purchased from most local or online computer stores.

A power supply with a minimum of two SATA power connectors is needed.

Thats what I was thinking but wanted verification. I will open the case in a day or two for an annual cleaning and to install new RAM and will double check. Thanks for the information.
