Dimenson 3000 low RAM
Hi all:emotion-2:.I have a Dell Dimension 3000, 248MB RAM with a Celeron (R) CPU 2.66 GHz an have Windows XP SP3. My computer is running very slowly (often crashing) and I was wondering, if I want to upgrade the RAM how high can I go with this and how do I install it please? I'm a total novice with technical stuff so step by step instructions would be ideal. Buying a RAM chip is my only solution as I can't afford a new computer, any help would be much appreciated.
Kind regards

WOW, 256mb of memory, that's way too little, best to upgrade to the maximum supported memory
The Dimension 3000 supports 2gb of DDR RAM [2 x 1gb modules]
To buy memory that's certified to work in the 3000, has a lifetime warranty go HERE
The procedures for replacing the memory of the Dimension 3000, are HERE

Hi Hunnyb22 ,
Welcome to Dell Community.
Dimension 3000 support memory speed of 400/533 MHz DDR2 and max 2GB. I believe maximum memory upgrade would be a good idea if you’re not planning to buy a new system.
Please make sure you buy memory of the mentioned speed. Follow this link to find right parts for any Dell system. http://dell.to/L31zFx

Hi...Thanks for your swift reply.
Just forgot to mention, I'm in the UK but I'll certainly look on the Dell's UK website.
Yes, 248MB is very low, but as I mentioned, I bought the computer in 2002 and it was the cheapest one at the time. Thanks also for your help, the worse case scenario was having to buy a new computer but if the new RAM chip works I'll be very happy, thanks again.
Kind regards
