There are many ways to do it - having both connected to a network is the place to start.

You could setup a homegroup and share files and folders on your home network. If you wish to transfer a file you may have to copy the shared file onto the second computer and then delete the file on the first computer. See www.windowscentral.com/how-setup-and-manage-windows-10-homegroup-local-network

This way may be even better. You could setup a FTP server in Windows 10 and transfer files using an FTP client. www.windowscentral.com/how-set-and-manage-ftp-server-windows-10

Hi!While transferring files, to take a backup is necessary.Connect the hard drive to your old computer copy and paste all the files in it.This method is some how so much time taking process.

Another good way is that you must download a PC Mover App to both the computer and install it after installing completely select the file that you want to transfer from old to the new computer.

A tornado Cable.  Vista and up will have a UAC dialog.

This is autorun trying to launch the program.  The program installs into memory.

I pull the HDD from the old computer and use a USB 3 to Sata3 adapter, or sometimes just install the old drive in the new computer.
