Disabling the boot menu (F12) on Inspiron 530s
Hi y'all!
I bought 3 Inspiron 530s for a little "Internet Café" at job (University)
These are Deepfreezed + BIOS password protected.
But...these protections worth nothing since every user can just hit F12 on bootup to boot from USB drive or CD.
So how can I disable this F12 function? Possible?

I think I don't have the same BIOS revision than you.
Or I'm dumb or something...
'Cause I can't find this option. Option I was actually looking for at first.
My BIOS is a Pheonix Award BIOS, rev 1.0.10

Hi
Go into the System Setup
1. Scroll down to System Security
2. Choose POST Hot Keys - None, F2 or F2 and F12
In step 2 you have an option of having the hot keys disabled, or enable only the F2 key or have both F2 and F12 Key enabled.
This BIOS is from a Dell Dimension 1100 A01

Doh!
A BIOS update...
I'm not proud, really...
But I must admit that I've take a look for this before the release date and then, I did put this on hold for several days.
I just forgot to look again these past days.
So I'll try it.

Forget what I said in my previous post.
It appears that you don't have the same BIOS than me nor the same PC (530s).
So your advice is, sorry in advance, useless in that matter.
There's no setting where I can disable the F12 function in this BIOS, even after the BIOS update.
Any other idea?
