E510 cannot boot up with front LED's 1-3-4

Might be a failing memory stick or they just need reseating. If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.

 

You can try this if it isn't memory. Pull the power cord and then the case cover. Remove the button battery. Push the power switch for like 10 seconds. Then put the battery back in and cover back on. Power cable back and then try to boot. If it does go into bios setup and reset the settings. See if it will boot up.

 

Under diagnostics lights there is nothing listed for having 1-3-4 lights green. They should be green and also the number 2 light green which is normal. You can check this here:

I tried both, still not solve the problem. Any other suggestion?

Actually I don't. Thought for sure one of these would work. You get any beeps during this? Maybe someone else will offer some suggestions.

If 1,3.and 4 lights are green then that is normal and you need the number 2 green also. When you reseat the memory you might also reseat the video card if it is not integrated. When you have the battery out try holding the power switch maybe longer, like 30 seconds. Be sure to try one memory module only if you have 2 or more to make sure one stick isn't bad.

I have a Dell Dimension 5150 with the exact same problem. 

Screen is black, Lights 1-3-4 and then the CPU fan runs on high.

I will try the suggestions above and a few other things today and will post results. Let me know if you find an answer.   Best....

No luck.  Reseated all cables and pulgs.  Switched, reseated and tested each mem module in both slots.  Reseated all the cards and even tried the battery trick.  Now, none of the number lights come on.  Fans are running and so is Hard Disk.  Power button yellow and CD light blinks a few times.  No beeps of any kind.  It doesn't seem to get very far into the system self test because the screen never come up.  Arggg. 

I'm thinking system board, but not sure. 

Where did you get your motherboard? What is the model # and price? Did you use credit card to paid for your E510? If yes, you may get your money. They have an extended warranty policy which will you get 1 more year of warranty.

Its a Dell Dimension 5150 with the exact same problem as the E510.

I got the part from Dell and use Credit card for order.

 

Did Dell extend the warranty on these system boards because of problems with them?

If you use credit card to paid for your Dell system then you may get cover by the credit card's extend warranty program. Go check with your credit card company.

Regarding this problem with diagnostic lights 1-3-4 during POST.

I had this problem with my Dimension 5150 ( lights 1-3-4 after power-up, system powers itself down, powers itself up and gives lights 1-3-4 again, but can go no further).

This solution may, or may not, work with your system but my 1-3-4 problem was caused by dodgy USB ports on the monitor AND the front of the tower :

 

1. Unplug at wall outlet.

2. Remove ALL USB cables except mouse and keyboard (plugged in to REAR USB ports).

3. Plug in at wall socket and power up.

4. System lights up 1-2-3-4 and completes POST and comes up normally.

4. No problems since.

 

The Dell USB ports at the front of my tower and particularly the monitor can be troublesome on occasion (seems to be lots of USB related problems on this forum so it would seem I'm not alone).
