GX260 Memory

Hi

I have an Optiplex GX260 and have recently bought a new stick of RAM for it.

From my invoice, the memory is:

1GB PC 2100 DDR 266 Mhz 184PIN 1 GB G 1024MB

although there are no labels on the memory.

If I put it in with some other memory it beeps with a memory problem. If I put it in on its own, it boots but only shows 24MB of RAM. I then get an "Endpoint Failure" on boot. I have tried it in another GX260 and it boots with 32MB of RAM, too slow to even boot!

I have tried a BIOS update on the machine that shows 32MB but this hasn't solved anything, it's still exactly the same.

Does the memory seem to be faulty or have I got the wrong sort?

Many thanks in advance
Noel

sounds like you need replacement ram either way..its supposed to be 1gb but youve tested on 2 seperate systems.

Dell uses pretty good memory from reputable memory makers. Because your module has no stickers or ID info, I am guessing you are using generic memory. I would return this and buy from either Dell (expensive) or check out www.crucial.com and use their system configurator to find the right memory for your machine. Goodluck.
