The 9800 Pro is supposed to have a 300 W power supply, too, so the 6600 GT should run just fine.  In fact, I think it uses LESS power than a 9800 Pro in actual use.  The power "requirements" are really worst-case scenarios anyway; they assume you've got all kinds of extra hard drives and stuff plugged into your power supply.

Be advised that a 6600 GT isn't THAT much faster than a 9800 Pro; it may not really be worth the money.

A "thread" is a discussion topic, like this one you are reading now.  The subject of the "thread" was video card upgrades.  That's all.

Tom's Hardware Guide tweaked the 6600 GT AGP and said though the ATI 9800 Pro was similar in some tests it was left far behind in the majority of benchmarks. Check out the attached link and let me know if you agree...I guess this card is Nvidia's answer to the ATI's mid-range cards...thanks again
