Got new speakers; should I upgrade the sound card as well?

Hello,

Should I upgrade my sound card? Stupid question, I know...

I recently bought a set of speakers for my old Inspiron 530 and they sound great. Should I buy a new sound card as well?

Almost all of the music I listen to is streaming from Rhapsody and sometimes I notice an instrument or voice doesn't sound right, as if it's too far back in the mix. The speakers are set up as recommended.

I'm wondering if an upgraded sound card would help. The new Logitech 5.1 speaker system sounds great with my older PC otherwise.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

Welcome to the community

Definitely you can add a sound card in this computer if you want to. Make sure the device is compatible and will fit to your computer. For the mean time, you might want to update audio driver first and see if there are added enhancement to yuor music. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,

Hello, Elijah,

Thanks for the reply. I took your advice and updated the driver, then I did go ahead and upgrade the sound card about a week ago. Now it sounds great! Thanks again.
