Graphics Card Upgrade

I have the inspiron 560. many have told me that my computer is considered a slim computer and is not compatible with many physical upgrades. I do know that there is a slimmer version of my current version but no one has brought to my attention that there is a normal size 560. Is mine normal size or slim and the other desktop i see is a even slimmer version. I want to upgrade my power supply and graphics card but im holding off because i dont want to buy the wrong thing. My computer is (from the outside case) 16 1/2 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 14 1/2 tal. would the average power unit and graphics card fit in this desktop or do i need to find something special.

Note: The MP4ATX40(MICRO) / MPS3ATX40(PS3)(KY-500ATX) Power Supply, only has three SATA power connectors, the Inspiron 560 Mini Tower supports 4 SATA drives.

Yes, using the exsisting 3-prong power cord should be fine.

The details for replacing the power supply are here.

After installing the PSU and before closing the case, check that all power and data cables are still properly connected.

The Inspiron 560 only supports SATA drives.

The 560 has support for two SATA optical drives and two SATA hard drives.

I see that the power supply has several 4-pin Molex power connectors, if you want an additional SATA connector, you could buy a 4-pin Molex to SATA adaptor.

just installed the 400w psu, everything went together normally, voltages are average, temperatures are average, so far no isues except for thousands of cords cramed inside my computer. the old psu had like no power connectors.

Congratulations.  :emotion-21:

Retail power supplies always more cables/power connectors than Dell's units, these are made with only minimum amount of cables required by the desktop the units are installed in.

That the reason, I like using modular power supplies, these cost a bit more, but it does help to avoid cable 'clutter'.
