H2C Unit, dust clogging, overheating issues--

Question

We have a lot of pets, and a lot of dust-- I noticed inside the case that the intake grill of the H2C unit had a fine coating of dust, so I thinking I would free up some air flow I rubbed it off with my fingers. Unfortunately I wasn't thinking did this with the unit on, and I'm afraid the dust might have gotten s@cked deeper into the unit, I have noticed some high temps with the nvidia monitoring software, as in 65C under moderate load. Of course I didn't start monitoring until after the dust incident so I have no idea what the temps were before... Should I pull the unit and use canned air or something to blow it out?

Use RealTemp to check the reading, nVidia monitoring is often inaccurate, then tell us what RealTemp says:

Realtemp 2.70 shows temps in the mid 60's after playing Dead Space for 10 min...  Even right now, five minutes later showing 65 59 46 48...   Thanks

Computer has started idling hot.  Locking up.  On the XPS support now.  H2C is a replacement part 7/27, today is the 91st day.  Part warranty? 90 days.

Pulled cooler blew it out, replaced it.  Computer will not boot, orange light on mobo,  beeping. 3 and 4 illuminated on front.

You did remove and reapply the thermal paste correct? Double check all the connections and possible reseating of the processor and ram.

I didn't reapply the thermal paste, there was a little extra old paste around the processor so I just smeared that around the plate..... Uh oh. Would that really make a difference? I will repull the unit, reseat the ram and the cables again, and go get some artic silver.

yes that can make a difference. You should get some cleaner too while your at it. Clean off all the old paste and reapply using this

Try booting with just one module at a time and see if the errors go away
