HELP! Upgrading the DELL Precision T7400

Is anybody here that could help me? I got a Dell Precision T7400 and try to upgrade. For some reason, I am not able to install a 64bit version. (In my case, I tried WIN10 Pro 64bit) I have no problem installing the WIN10 Pro 32bit version. Here are the specs at the moment:

Edition: Windows 10 Pro.

Version: 1607 OS

Build: 14393.693

Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5430 @ 2.66GHz 2.66 GHz (2 processors)

Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (3.00 GB usable)

System type: 32-bit operating system, x64-based processor     (System Type: X86-based PC)

(BIOS Version A09)

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanking you in advance,

Pat Boening

That system should run 64-bit WIndows -- what happens when you do the install (NOTE:  you MUST do a clean install - you cannot upgrade any 32- bit version of Windows to 64-bit)?

Yes, I know that now. When I installed the 64bit version, it reacted different all the time. It would start loading WIN, it seemed to work until the logo...stopped and started over, and over again. Another time, it would start installing 64, but then it gave me a message saying, that it will install 32 instead, to be compatible. The BIOS also says that this is ready for 64bit version. So it should be compatible...no?
