HELP!! What is vsaccess.exe???

I do not have this file so my guess is that it came with your scanner. If you don't get an answer here, I'd check with Umax.

You probably have leftover garbage after removing your scanner. There are some complex ways of solving this problem that I can help you with if this suggestion does not work. First open your CleanSweep program and go to the restore button function. The UMax program is archived automatically by CleanSweep. Next, restore it. CleanSweep cautions you to use the uninstall function of a program when present, so, now close CleanSweep. Click start-programs-UMax. See if an uninstall program is listed. If it is there, and I think it will be, open the uninstall program and when it says do you want to uninstall UMax? answer yes. If it asks you , do you want to remove shared files? answer no. If uninstall was not present, do this. Click start-settings-control panel- add/remove programs. Highlight UMax and click remove.

Often, if programs are incompletely removed, you will get these irritating messages. If you need this vsaccess.exe., click the browse button and find it. Click OK and you will never see the message again.

Thanks for you help. I did go into Clean Sweep and found the file vsaccess.exe and restored it. This removed the dialog box upon starting up computer. I then went into My Computer, Internet Explorer and found a setup file which restored the internet explorer for me with all my favorites intact. Now I have a new problem. I cannot open Outlook Express. I get an error message that reads:"Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded"

Can you help me with this one?

Followed your instructions but when I got to the site, I was more confused then ever. Didn't seem to find anything that fit with my problem. Can you help a bit more?

Fred: MSOE.dll is an Outlook Express dll file and should be on your Windows CD. If you're running windows 98 you can extract a fresh copy using the System File Checker. For more information on it go to

and search on the dll name........

Fred, the method I gave you avoids using the SFC. To use it just click start-run. In the run box type SFC. Click OK. Now just follow the instructions after it finds the missing file.

Fred, This is probably easy to fix. Click-Start-settings-control panel. Open add/remave- highlight internet explorer and ckick the button marked add/remove. The option repair will appear. Click it, and it should restore the missing file for Outlook Express. If you find Outlook Express listed, do the same for this program. If this does not work, we can give you more help. The file is on your Windows CD and can be extracted by finding it with the Find Files function in Start, after putting the CD in your drive. The easiest way to fix it, is then to refind the same file in Windows Explorer on the CD, RIGHT CLICK it and open edit from the top bar. Select copy by LEFT CLICKING the option, copy from the menu. Now scroll until you find Outlook Express on the left side of explorer. Highlight it with a left click and reopen edit. Click paste. The file should now be in the right place.
