Help Updating Motherboard AGP Driver

I am trying to install a new graphics card. The instructions tell me to insure the latest motherboard AGP drivers are updated before I proceed. So, I go to support.intel.com and attempt to download the latest driver. I get the following error message:

"one or more files required for installation are missing or corrupt."

I have a Dimension 8600i with 1GB RAM. Current Graphics card is a 128mb NiVidia 5200. My device manager says my motherboard chipset is the Intel(R) 82865G\PE\P. The current file version is: 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2.rtm.040803-2158). According to the support.intel.com download web site, I should be downloading a file 6.14.xx.

I have downloaded the latest Chipset file from the Dell download site for my model Dimension 4600i. It just doesn't make sense that the driver doesn't match with what the Intel site says I should have.

I feel like I have the right download at the Intel site, but something doesn't smell right here. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

You can use either one.  For a newer chipset such as 865, I would use the chipset provided by Intel.

Thanks Molly!  Any idea how to get around the error message above?

Nope.  Best you can do is Start --> Run and type there:    sfc /scannow {Enter}

Let Windows run a check on itself and repair any Windows system files that need fixing.
