How can I install Windows 7 on O5040?
The company has purchased O5040 without internal DVD drive & Windows OEM, as the company owns Windows 7 volume licenses.
I want to install Windows 7 on O5040 but "missing CD/DVD drive device driver" error occurs after booting up Windows 7 installation disk. I followed various methods from the web. The common one was to inject USB3 & SATA drivers to install.wim, boot.wim, and winre.wim for Windows and then recreated Windows 7 installation disks. Next, I booted up Ubuntu live disk and copied a few drivers to a FAT32 partition of the internal hard disk (note: Ubuntu installer was pre-installed on O5040 so that there was the FAT32 partition) for manually loading these drivers after booting up Windows 7 installation. However, all of these methods did not work.

It looks like the only way to do this is with the Dell recovery image for that system - at least according to the documentation here:

Only Solution for OptiPlex 5040 and 7040
Go to the Dell Drivers and Download site for your product.
Select the dropdown for Operating System then select the option to "Download the Windows Recovery Image"
When the download is complete the issue will be resolved by the new image installed as this has drivers included.
The 5040 does not support FAT32 MBR partitions nor does Windows 7. You can only install on GPT partitions with SECURE BOOT OFF legacy ON. There is no ATA sata operation and therefore you MUST USE AHCI F6 drivers for the install to work. There is support for this but its not free. Advanced format drives REQUIRE F6 drivers.

I've tried the suggested solution, but it still did not work.
I injected USB3 driver & RST storage driver from Intel into boot.wim, install.wim, and winre.wim on Windows 7 installation disk and then burned into a DVD. Next, I disabled Secure boot in BIOS. The modified Windows 7 installation DVD was booted from an external USB DVD driver. However, "required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" occurred, provided that the modified installer was booted in UEFI or legacy mode.
Next, I tried to load USB3 (a few versions were tried) & RST storage driver manually but in vain. I also tried to use the USB3 driver for O5040 (downloaded from Dell's web site) but still failed.
A few questions:
1. Should the installer be booted in legacy mode instead of UEFI mode?
2. Should the hard disk be MBR instead of GPT?
What other methods can I do to install Windows 7? I don't want to install Windows 10 as there's no such license.

Further information: The hard disk could be found in Windows 7 installation program, and files could be seen from the file browser. Next, hotfix KB982018 was also injected into .wim files. I rather think that the problem was caused by the USB3 driver. Yet, it was surprising that USB devices (including USB flash disks & external USB DVD drive) could be accessed.
