How do I add USB 3.0 to Studio XPS 435T/9000?
There are a number of 3rd party PCI-e cards to add USB 3.0 to your desktop PC (Dell has one, too, but sales cannot answer technical questions).
My question(s):
1) Can the existing card reader cable in my Studio XPS 435T/9100 to connect to a 3rd party USB 3.0 PCI-e card to get USB 3.0 speed and power with the card reader/USB slot in the Dell? If so, which 3rd party card would you recommend that would work properly regarding connectors, etc.?

You might be able to connect the card reader to the PCI-e USB3 card, but I suspect it would still run as USB2.
The PC is fairly old and the reader is unlikely to support USB3. Since USB3 is backward compatible with earlier versions, it would detect the reader as USB2 and run at that speed.
A USB2 memory stick or USB2 hard drive connected to the USB3 port on a PC, only works at USB2 speed.
