How do uou adjust RAM speed following memory upgrade - can't do in BIOS
I have a Dimension 2400 that previosuly had 512MB of RAM fitted. It was getting pretty slow of late so I've fitted two new 1GB DIMMS instead. They're both 333Mhz (as was the 512MB chip that I replaced). The PC recognises the new RAM and it is working faster, but I notice that the RAM is still only running at 266Mhz and not the higher speed. I've been into the BIOS and found that the preset Memory speed of 266Mhz cannot be altered by the user. I've flash upgraded the BIOS to A05 but it makes no difference. Is there any way around this so that I can reset the RAM speed in the BIOS to what it should be so that I get the best out of my new chips?

Sorry, the memory speed cannot be adjusted in the 2400 and there is no way around it.
What is the processor that's installed?
Assuming that your system was running at 333MHz, I had the same problem in a Dimension 4550 and found it was a problem with the new memory I installed, had to return the modules and was sent new RAM by the vendor, that worked at the correct 333MHz speed.

The Dimension 2400 supports both 400 and 533 Mhz processors. If you have the 400 Mhz processor (a Celereon as opposed to full Pentium) your memory will run at the 266 Mhz speed.
It is not something you could change short of replacing the presumed Celeron with a Pentium 533 Mhz processor.
EDIT: Hmmm... Are you saying your old memory ran at the faster speed? If that is the case, I can't explain it.....
