How to boot Dell Optiplex GX270 from CD

Hi, I am trying to reinstall windows from my Dell Optiplex GX270 from, and when I hit F12, I get these choices-

1- Normal

2- Primary Master Drive

3- Hard Disc Drive C

4- System Setup

5- Idle Drive Diagnostics

6- Boot To Utility partition

None of these seemed to work, so I try booting with F2 and get to the boot up options I  these choices-

1- hard Disc Drive C

2- Diskette Drive

3- Integrated NIC

4- IDE CD-Rom Device

If I try #4 i get this messeage- "Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 For setup utility

Am I missing something here? What choice should I be making? I just want to boot from the CD....

Thank you!

Hi Fullbug,

Sometimes it's hit and miss booting to a CD for certain drives. The best approach is to keep hitting F1 and see if the system sees the disc. If not, you also have the option to boot to a flash drive, which can also be used to install the OS.

F12  choose onboard CD

With XP you must press Enter when it says PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT CD.
