How to disable F12 = Boot menu / GX150.

Hi,

On our site, we have to secure GX150 optiplex DELL ( 150 PC workstations ).
Users should not be able to boot from Floppy Disk ...

How to disable F12 = Boot menu ?
It's available at startup ...

BIOS is A09 release.

Many thanks.

Patrick.

I am not sure whether this would work on the GX150 but I have an optiplex GX260 on which I have disabled the hot keys in the following manner.

Go into the System Setup

1. Scroll down to System Security

2. Choose POST Hot Keys - None, F2  or F2 and F12

In step 2 you have an option of having the hot keys disabled, or enable only the F2 key or have both F2 and F12 Key enabled.

regards

The Apostate.

On thing you can do is disable the floppy drive in BIOS and put a password on the BIOS. You could also disconnect it from the motherboard. As far as disabling the F12 Menu, You can hide it, but it is still active. If you don't want to go through this trouble, you can always have management set STRICT rules on this and whoever is caught gets a Final Written or Even the Pink Slip.

Once there do CTRL + F for Diskette Drive A and Diskette Drive B and also Password Protection. This information should help you out.
