How to install sound card
I have a xonar dx sound card which I'm having problems installing in my dell T7400. I'm running windows 7 ultimate on the system and just wouldn't understand why things are just so complicated . Can anyone please help explain or tutor me on how to get this thing done.I 'm not a guru in this field but can get it done if explained to. Thanks to you guys out there.

That is a PCIeX1 slot sound card and I assume you have it physically installed correctly.
There are reports that Windows is not detecting it when you first try it, but after Windows finds it, and you reboot you can then use the disc that came with the card to install (don't download drivers from ASUS and try them according to the reports, use the disc that comes with the card).
Also, if you haven't done it, disable the Integrated audio in the BIOS (F2 Setup). You don't want the integrated to conflict with the new sound card.
Finally, many Dell's use a proprietary front panel connection so you may not have front panel headphone/mic capability.
I couldn't find the install instructions on the ASUS site, but from my many sound card installs, once Windows finds it, as previously noted, you should be able to then run the install disc.
After you get it installed, and have speakers attached, go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section your "speakers" (sound card) should be set as the default playback device. You can also test the speakers from that panel. In the Recording panel, you should have System Mixer (may be labeled Stereo Mix). Set this as your default recording device (you need this to record streaming audio from the internet).
That is about all you should need.
