IE 5.5 saving images as bitmaps - why?

I've recently encountered an annoying problem in Internet Explorer. Whenever I come across an image I want to save, I right-click it and IE ALWAYS wants to save the image as "untitled.bmp", even if the image is not a bitmap. Any ideas what causes this or how it can be fixed? Thanks.

If this only occurs at certain sites, you may want to look at this article from the MSKB:

SugarBear,

If your problem occurs on all sites. Here's a post by a MS MVP I found on MS's IE 5.5 newsgroup site which should fix your problem. HTH

"This is directly related to the amount of space availabe in your TIF.

Go to IE tools, internet options (general tab) and use the 'delete files' button for the TIF."
