Inspiron 3647 Modem
I have been trying to find a USB dongle type (dial-up) modem that will work on my 3647 for use with an answering machine program. I am using Windows 10 (Home).. I have tried several modems but although they might work, they all create an error when trying to shut down the computer and then restarts computer. The error BSOD says that SYSTEM_THREAD-EXEMPTION_NOT_HANDLED CAXHWCD2.SYS..... Which is a driver file.. I am now looking for another modem to try that utilizes a driver that is available in WIN 10.. Not one that I had to download from a generic (non-mfg) website.. Anyone recommend a modem that will work on the 3647 WIN 10??? One other thing.. If I remove the modem (unplug it) the system will shut down fine..

You wont be able to use a usb modem as answering machine because it cannot pickup the line and record voice messages.

Many Dialogic boards are $1000 and too long to fit into a 3650
This one would fit but it too is expensive.

You also have to go into control panel and add back the fax and scanning features as well as the LPR printing standards.
