Inspiron 3847 Power Supply Specifications
All,
I am having some problems with my Inspiron 3847 which appear to be lack of power related. I looking to get the specifications on the stock power supply (not total wattage -- I know it is approx 230w) like the number and types of connectors. I plan on replacing with a 500+ watt supply -- just need to know configuration.
Thanks

20 pin is ATX 2.0 all current dells are EPS 12v 2.92 which is 24 pin. I don't have one so I can only say that the power supply size is standard. It looks like a re-badged Inspiron 620 to me in every way including the hard drive mounting. Clearance for 12 inch long Video cards is NOT there so this moots the point of a bigger power supply.

The board has 4 pin and 24 pin standard.

The SLIM Desktop cannot have a 500W power supply.

The Tower version has 300W power supply and works with full size power supply. HOWEVER 12 inch long video cards DO NOT FIT into the case.
9 inches long, 1.5 in heigh, 3. 75 in width. My question is how did you guys get 9 inch cards to fit in your 620 Mt's when there is this cable that extended from the power button to the mother board.

Thanks,
I have the Tower case. I am trying to find out if the existing power supply is unique to Dell or is a generic applicable. ie: what connectors are required for the processor (4 or 8 pin?) and the motherboard (20 or 24 pin?) and any other special connectors.
