Inspiron 530 MiniTower replacement PSU?
I have the "shut down my Inspiron 530 and it won't power back up issue", with the green light on back, amber light inside, no response to power button symptoms. PSU passes the jumper on test, but many posts here indicate that replacing power supply in those circumstances cured the problem, so I'm game to go ahead with a new one. I have a Q6600 CPU, 4Gb of memory, an ATI HD2900 Pro passively cooled graphics card, and run Windows 7 32 bit. It's a dedicated WMC machine.
I don't really need any more watts. What's a good PSU for me that's known to work without issues? Newegg is my preferred vendor, but I'll listen to informed advice regarding others. TIA.

Most generic standard ATX power supply units can be installed, with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector, with or without the on/off switch.
Note: You require a power supply with four SATA power connectors.
Always buy a power supply that has a decent warranty, minimum of three years.

Thanks, Bev! I learned a bit from your prior posts on this subject, and was hoping you'd weigh in here.
Looks like $45 is the entry point for a decent PSU in this range. They call me "Chief Systems Engineer", but I need a bit of guidance when it comes to the brass tacks. I appreciate it.

Happy to have helped.
I also still have my Inspiron 530 MT, purchased new in 2007, upgraded to Win 7 and an SSD drive, it's still a sweet running system.

A very odd thing just happened. I was sitting here using my laptop when a thunderstorm rolled in. Started getting some lightning, then suddenly had a momentary power blip. When the power came back on after a second or two, the Inspiron started up. It went into (Windows 7) Startup Repair, did a rollback, then started normally. Right now everything seems happy, but I have not tried a power-off shutdown.
The Antec EA-380D should be here tomorrow, or Wednesday at the latest. I'm still going to do the swap. My wife has never like hearing the Inspiron PSU fan, and the Antec reviews say it's quiet as a mouse. I'd put a UPS in play if it weren't for her sensitivity to fan noise.
