Inspiron 530 drivers for Multimedia Audio Controller and SM Bus Controller

Working with an Inspiron 530 desktop with Vista Home Basic.

In device manager, under other devices, I have two entries.  Both have the yellow exclamation point.

-Multimedia Audio Controller

-SM Bus controller

If I go to the Dell website and look up the service tag I cannot find anything that matches this description.

There is an audio driver listed which I downloaded and installed... but that is for the RealTek device listed under Sound, video and game controllers.

Having device manager search for drivers did not turn up anything.

Any suggestions on where I could further identify these devices and find the drivers would be greatly appreciated.

I did try to find the orginal bill of material on the Dell website, but none was listed.

Thanks,

I was working remotely and after the user steadfastly insisted no audio cards had been added to the computer - for the first hour I spent trying to resolve this - he finally said... Oh, I remember now, we did add a sound card.

That was the missing device.

Hi,

You can download the following drivers to resolve the issue:

Steps to download drivers:-

  • Click on the links above.
  • Click 'Download file' to download the list to a folder you will designate.
  • Click 'Save'. Then designate the folder you would like to save the files to.
  • Once you have designated the folder you would like to save your files to, Click 'OK'.
  • Selected downloads will automatically start downloading. You can Pause , Stop , or Continue  downloading the items you have selected. Next is Installation.
  • To start installation, Click Open folder. Right-click a downloaded file and select the option to ‘Run as administrator’.
  • A small window will appear with 'Continue' and 'Exit' buttons, click 'Continue'.
  • In the Select the folder where you want to unzip the files to window, click OK.
  • If a message appears asking to create a folder, click 'Yes'. If a message appears asking to overwrite the folder, click 'Yes to All'.
  • In the All files were successfully unzipped window, click OK.
  • A new window will appear, follow the prompts that appear to finish the installation.
  • Restart your computer.

Please reply in case you have further questions.
