Inspiron 660 graphic problem

Okay, so now I have my EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti all hooked up but, now when I try to boot the computer, the computer begins to boot but the monitor tells me it's going into power saving mode and then goes blank. What am I doing wrong? I have installed a new power system with 520 watts.

I found out what to do, The BIOS for Dell Inspiron 660 chooses the on board integrated card so you have to Download the drivers for the new card and disable the original card. I know one thing from this experience, never buy dell again!

How could you have it all hooked up when you did not replace the power supply yet?

It could be possible that you need a much larger power supply for your new GPU. Get at least 500-600 W.

I have purchased a 520 watt power supply and installed it. That doesn't seem to be the issue.

Could it be a BIOS or a general software problem?

If everything was working fine before you put the card in, then things should work now.  Check all your power supply connections and the connection to the video card.  Did you test the power supply before you put the video card in?  If not, do so.

Does the card need a PCI power hook up?

Glad you got it working.  Some of these Inspirons today are a bit strange.  Normally, you just put the card in and it uses the PCI Express video card automatically without having to disable the onboard.   Only in some older systems did I find that necessary.   I never had to do that with my Inspiron.
