Installing Floppy Disk Drive purchased from Dell

I bought a floppy drive from Dell and no matter what I do, I cannot seem to get it to work.  Should be plug n play correct?  I even had my IT guy let me have an older one from work adn niether works.  Is there something that I'm missing?  Add Hardware?  Map drive? or something?  Brand is a Sony MPF 920

What is the computer model the floppy drive in being installed in?

Is this a replacement or new drive installation?

If it's a new drive installation, have you checked the system setup [BIOS], that the floppy drive is enabled [on]?

Dell system and OS?

What are the indications you get

XPS 400 with XP.  I get nothing.  The power cable is the extra double and I tried connecting the large connector into one of my cd/dvd drives and it worked fine.  I get no power light on the floppy drive at boot...in either floppy (I have 2).

Yes...I have the correct interface cable and point of connection.  I was referring to the dual power supply connector.  I've connected it correctly and wondering if I need to go to "Add Hardware"...which I hve though it doesnt seem to recognize the new drive.

The floppy connector is not the same as teh CD/DVD cable. You need a floppy drive cable.

Looking at your system board HERE you can see where the IDE cable and the Floppy cable are connected to the motherboard.

Turn on  computer, when the blue DELL logo is displayed, you watch for the F2 prompt to appear, once this F2 prompt appears, press F2 immediately.

Details of the System Setup are HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Check out the Diskette Drive Settings.
