Jittery sound using WMP v11

Hi,

I received delivery of a Dell E520 last weekend, installed with Vista Ultimate.

My problem is with playing mp3s on Windows Media Player Version 11. The songs play perfectly until the last 15 seconds, when it "breaks" for 2-3 seconds. At first I thought the files were corrupt, but when I tried them out on VLC, it plays perfectly. I took an audio recording of this, so if the mods are interested further, or anyone for that matter, PM me.

Update 1 (15/07/2007 2106 Australian CST):When I plug in the speakers to the headphone connector, there is no jitter. I tried this for one mp3 file, I will try with more and let you know. However, this doesn't explain why there is a jitter when I connect it to the audio connector at the back.

Regards,
Prasanna

Is that with the integrated Sigmatel audio? Sounds like the standard inadequacy of these Dell systems in that the audio driver seem to be buggy. Make sure Speaker/Headphones -> Properties has "Disable all enhancements" checked.
Why Dell don't properly address this issue is quite beyond me.................
