Keyboards prefer a direct connection since sometimes you must use the keyboard before Windows loads--to select the boot menu or boot to the cd, for instance. Use the USB connection instead. You are trying to use 2 connectors--the switch and usb to ps2 cable. It won't work.

Just to update this old post: If you're using a USB keyboard through a PS/2 connection, sometimes you have to tell the BIOS this and enable Legacy support or some such similar setting.  Please note this will depend on the BIOS of your computer.  Some will have this option but others don't.  I didn't have it, but my friend did and it worked fine through the PS/2 connection.  Easier to check the BIOS first for this setting!
