Logitech cordless mouse/keyboard conflict

I posted this issue several years ago.  To the best of my recollection no reply was posted.

With my previous Dell PC (win 98) my Logitech cordless mouse together with my wireless keyboard worked problem-free. 

 

When I purchased my current system (3+ years ago) I could get only one or the other of the two to work.  (When I would "connect" the wireless signal for the mouse the keyboard would quit working.  When I would "connect" the keyboard the mouse would cease to function.)

 

That was three years ago.  In the past year I've experienced slightly different results.  The mouse works perfectly but now if I "connect" the keyboard not only does the mouse cease to function but the keyboard will not function either.  (In other words, the wireless keyboard does not work at all.)

 

Is this a known problem?  Would, perhaps, a driver update solve the issue?

 

I have run various "driver - scan" programs and each results in notification of a mouse driver update.  (I neither completely trust these programs nor have I paid to fully use their functions.)

 

It appears my mouse and keyboard driver version is 3.10.0.103.  (Should the driver(s) for both be the same?)

 

As this has been an issue of mine for many years it is obviously not high on my priority list.  Nonetheless, it is troublesome.  I'd like to use my cordless keyboard that has been sitting useless for several years! 

 

BTW, yes, I have installed new batteries in each device - several times.

Edited immediately upon posting:  Unlike my previous PC this one has numerous USB ports (several in the rear and a couple in front).  I recall plugging the mouse and keyboard connections into various ports would often result in different results/problems.  Not being totally familiar with USB I wonder ... once installed, should ANY device plugged into ANY USB port work correctly?
