Memory in Studio XPS 435MT

I just installed 16GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) memory in my 435MT. The Crucial site said this speed memory would work in the 435MT, but mine is running at 1333 instead of 1600.

How can I get my PC to run the memory at 1600 instead of 1333?

Thanks

Herman

My old memory was PC3 8500. I updated both speed and amount.

The actual speed of the memory is determined by the FSB speed of the installed processor.  Your memory will not necessarily be run at its maximum rated speed, especially if the memory bus does not allow it.  Did your old memory run at 1600?

It doesn't matter what speed memory you have. you are  limited by the hardware.  The Dell manual says 1066 memory.

Did you try running the Crucial scanner on your system to find out the best memory for your system.

The scanner shows the same thing as the manual check. It shows PC3-10600, PC3-8500 and PC3-12800 will all work.

Mine runs at 1333 instead of 1600.
