Microphone Noise

I have a Dimension T800, with a microphone. When the microphone is plugged in, I get noise coming thru the speakers constantly. I can pull the microphone jack out, but is there a way of switching it off, until you need to use it.

Thanks,

Kam

Take a look at this post, but substitute setting Line In with Microphone.

You might also consider muting the mic under playback mode. You won't be able to hear anything afterwards through the speakers of course, but if everything is setup properly, it will still function under record mode or when you use it.

Double clicking the speaker Icon on your taskbar will bring up the mike control. Click the box for mute.
