My Optiplex GX620 - 3 4 HD Error Lights
Hello,
I've had a Optiplex GX620 for about 4 months now and havn't had any problems until this morning..
Went to turn her on and she gave me the 3 4 HD error lights.
I've been reading all morning/afternoon and after switching the sticks many times I've came to it has to be my motherboard or a bad sector on my HD.
I was just coming here for my last resort before I start tearing her down for the repair..
Has anybody else had this problem and did you find out what was causing the errors?

What is the colour of the power switch LED is it blinking, or solid?
Are there any 'Beeps'?
If the xx34 Diagnostic lights are lite, this could indicate a memory issue,
See HERE
First try removing and reinstalling all the memory modules and see if this makes a difference.
No difference, try the following:
Remove all the memory modules, then install only one module in slot 1, then see if the system boots and if the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module.
Does not boot, move the module to slot 2 and again see if the system boots, no boot, try the module in slot 3, no boot, try installing in slot 4.
Still does not boot, then remove the first module and using the second one, repeat the sequence described above.
Still no boot, try installing any remaining modules, one at a time, using the above procedure.
Continue until you have identified a faulty module [or slot] or reinstalled all modules without error.
Then if the computer still does not start, it's possible that the motherboard has failed and needs to be replaced.

Don't know, but I expect it could happen, but I've only had one module fail, at a time.
If the computer was hit, by a power surge, then anything can happen.
You mentioned that, you had the system for four months, did you buy it from Dell, or was it used?

Power light is green and solid and so are the error lights. (No beeps, just 3, 4, HD lights)
Tried everything, same error lights no matter what stick or what slot.
How rare is it for both sticks of ram to go bad before the MB?

Yep, that's a bummer alright. :emotion-6:
Just a thought, check the motherboard for any capacitors with bulging tops or are leaking, the tops should be perfectly flat.

I'm pretty bummed out because that was a great machine but I guess I can start fixing up my Inspiron E1505 I recently got. (Used also.)
Still open for any other info/input thats out there.

You can buy a refurbished [aka used] Dell OEM Optiplex GX620 motherboard HERE, or you may find one on eBay, that cost less.

The board looks fine, doesn't smell odd either.
I'm pretty much labeling it as an lost cause.

Ok, thanks a lot for the feedback all day.
I currently don't have money like that to spare but I hope one day to get her running again..

Would windows load completely? I have an Optiplex GX620 that displayed the same symptoms that you described. After about a week of Googling I had come to the conclusion that my Mobo or CPU had gone haywire, so I ordered a refurbed one (less money than a CPU or Mobo). In the mean time I had read a post on another forum by a tech that said the thermo compound would dry out after a few years and he carefully wiped the old compound off the heatsink & CPU and applied new compound and it worked. I did the same and guess what? I'm writing this post from the 620 that wouldn't star; so now I have 2. So apparently the thermo grease does have an impact on heat transfer.
Just a thought.

I was totally screwed up when i washed my motherboard with wd40, its normally contaminated with oil. After all doing this i start the computer and this error popup rv370 p/n 113-a62901-103 bios. I was shocked to see that since i did't have any option but stand by screen. Neither mouse nor key board was working. Anyway I google and found that Processor is damaged and need to replace it. Lastly i felt that em totally screwed up this machine and thinking to buy a new processor. when i realized i made a mistake so that i again did one more thing. I washed motherboard with ZIPPO lighter fluid and before doing it i gave the heat through my lighter to processor. It worked out and i saw a dell screen for short while and then pc hung up.
Finally hopeless and again back to my laptop for google and found this forum. You are amazing your tip worked out. I removed both the module from its slot and washed carefully with drier and then inserted back in 1 slot. Yahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo my computer boot up and back to normal windows7.
