NVRAM, What happens when you clear it:
I have problem with my floppy drive . I am currently working with Dell Support on the issue. They have sent me a couple of emails with different things to do . They had me enter System setup and Restore Setup Defaults by pressing{Alt}+{F} key then USB Legacy Support to enabled Then Reboot I tried to start from aMS DOS bootable Disc they had me make in an earlier email to check and see if it was working . It did not work
Then he wanted me to clear NVRAM, I entered system setup again . This time he had me turn on Num lock,Scroll lock and Caps lock. Then press {Alt} + {E} Key (same time) and then {Alt}+ {F} Key. Then go down to Integrated Devices and change USB Emulation to No Boot. Reboot I did but it did not fix the floppy drive.
Any ways my Question is does Clearing NVRAM slow the computer down ?
I am asking because it sure does seem to be slow now .Just getting to the Desktop took about 40 secs. longer than it normally takes ( I have been checking this off and on for the last month). Also opening files seems to take longer and opening programs.
What does clearing NVRAM do? I noticed in another post somebody told a person that was installing a new Floppydrive to clear the NVRAM

Clearing the NVRAM doesn't slow the computer down. It will clear anything stored in it.

Thanks for the info and site I did not remove any jumpers to clear my NVRAM . I did what Dell SUPPORT told me to do he said I cleared NVRAM .

Go into BIOS and make sure FAST BOOT is set to ON.
Also, go into the boot sequence and ensure that the floppy is not enabled (unless you want to boot to floppy of course)
