New ram, and my computer wont start.please help.
Hello
I recently bought
Extra Value 1GB DDR2 667MHz PC2-5300 240pin Extra Value Ram - Qty: 4
to upgrade the ram on my PC:
Dell inspiron 530
e5700 cpu
2gb ddr2 667 ram
0ry007 - Motherboard
250 + 80 gb HDD
dell bios is latest 1.18.
I installed the new ram and the computer wont boot it just says that new hard ware instalation may contain faulty or infected files please insert windows installation disc..... blah blah blah.... But when i put the old ram back in it all works fine.
From what i can tell the ram i bought should be compatible its the same speed ram as the old just more of it.
Any and all advice is welcome.
Thankyou

Try the new memory two at a time. Maybe one is bad.
