Optiplex GX260 NO AUDIO
Picked up a GX260 and have NO AUDIO.System info. Os XP Pro,Intell P-4, Sound Max Intergrated Audio. Driver ADI 198X, Uninstalled all. Reboot Windows finds card and installs updated driver. Device manager,Sound,SoundMax Digital Intergrated audio device working properly. Nothing Muted in volume controll & volume set to 60%. Entered BIOS and all sound on. Has anyone had this problem and found the FIX ?

1) Make sure that there are no other audio ports on the rear of the system. Anything with a green 1/8" jack would be suspect.
2) Open Sounds and Audio Proerties in Control Panel and go to the Audio tab. See which device is listed there under Default Device.
3) Check and recheck all wiring Check the speakers with another audio source such as a MP3 player.
4) Download and install the XP Codec pack at : http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm
5) Put a regular store-bought audio CD in the system and see if it attempts to play. If so then it means that Winderz believes that the card is working.
6) Boot to the Dell Optiplex Resource CD and run the audio test outside of Winderz.
If you've done all of the above and still have no sound then I would conclude it ain't workin'.
