Optiplex GX280 SFF - graphics card
I have a Optiplex GX280 Small Form factor PC.
I need a graphics card for it so I can run 2 screens - one off the graphics card, one off the inbuilt graphics.
It has a PCI and a PCI-e slot.
I do not need to play games with this card, it is a work computer.
I have tried the PNY NVidia 8400 GS 256MB DDR2 PCI-e card.
It was low enough, but it was about 5mm too long - I couldn't shut the case as the edge of the card hit the HDD.
I have also tried a Pine XP-PCI3800 SiS 315E 32MB DDR PCI card.
It fit, but the resolution is terrible at 1024x1280, which is the native for my monitor. I've tried several drivers, with no improvement, and changing the resolution doesn't help either.
Can anyone suggest a suitable card - I don't not use anything intensively 3D on the PC - as I said it is a work PC, so it is usually running Visual Studio, not Crysis!
It also needs to be cheap - not more than £50 if at all possible.
Many Thanks,
Janine

Well you are very limited options for this. The problem is the low profile PCIe cards won't have room for 2 connectors for 2 monitors (only 1 slot space because the PCIe is seperate from the PCI slots, which are full size on the riser card)
This limits you to the PCI slot. This is about the best PCI video for dual monitor I can find under $100.

Robin24k - Can you tell me the manufacturer of the card please?
There are a lot of 7300GS cards out there!
mikembm - Thanks for the link, unfortunately I can't find a Jaton UK reseller.
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by a riser card. Both the PCI and PCIe slots are on the motherboard, next to each other.
Thanks,
Janine

I think it's Jaton, but you'll also want to make sure that it comes with a half-height bracket.
