Orange blinking light on an Optiplex 745
Hi,
I've got a problem with my Optiplex 745.
it won't start up, an orange light is blinking with the power button and none of the LED's show any sign of what could be wrong.
Sometimes, the CPU fan will start for about 2 seconds and then, nothing.
There is nothing showing on the screen as well.
Is this a faulty PSU or could it be something else?
I've reconnected all the cables but nothing seems 2 help.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Raymond

A blinking amber power switch LED usually indicates a failed power supply, try installing a different PSU.
The Optiplex 745 has four versions, Mini Tower, Desktop, Small Form Factor and the Ultra Small Form Factor.
If you have the Mini Tower version, most generic standard ATX power supply units can be installed, with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector, with or without the on/off switch.
You should be able to buy a compatible power supply from either a local or online computer store.
Note: A power supply with four SATA power connectors, is required.
The Optiplex 745 Service Manual, is HERE

Hi,
we have a Optiplex 745 (Desktop).
Now it's shutting down without warning and the Power LED blinks orange. This happens very often now.
If it's a power supply problem - were can we get a new one?
Thanks
Kind regards
Matthias
