Try to clairfy this will you.  You have a XP cd that came from Dell for the Dim 9100 and now you are trying to use that XP CD on a home built system  ?

The Dell OEM XP is for a Dell system only.

alright i have the reinstallation cd from a previous Dell Machine, i used it to install windows on a new machine that i built, i activated it with the product key from the old machine, now i am getting Blue screens of death, such as page fault in non paged area, irql not less or equal, and bad pool header, could this be the result of the installation of windows. I have eliminated the RAM and sound card.

Also in doing so is violating the terms of service here on the Dell forum for taking something belonging to a Dell system and trying to install it on a non Dell system.  And you are actually stealing from Microsoft doing the same thing

That copy of XP is licensed for use only on the computer with which it was sold, whether that computer works or not.
