Please help my computer wont boot up as black screen error maessage displayed No Boot Device Detected ??
Hi Im new on here today and just wondered how do I go about asking advice on No Boot device detected issues.
I TRIED TOO BOOT FROM DELL drivers cd . It went through some diagnostics and passed but when I Tried to start up the computer (VISTA) Dimensions,
it goes to a black screen and says No Boot Device Detected Insert system disk and press F1 .
When I booted the system up using dell cd it went through diagnostics tools and passed but at the end of the test I was unable too exit I had to switch of the computer and start it back up and was prompted to go through the same tests and then this message came up
Your cd/dvd drive during this boot is F:A RAMDISK Drive is available for this boot cycle as C:
It contains several hard drive set up tools.
Please Use these tools only Under the direction of Dell Support staff.
It passed the test apart from speakers because Id taken them out and plugged in headphones.
It also failed on the USB Mouse it wouldnt move the squares illustated .I could only get out using Esc.
The problem started when I turned off McAfee support because the computer wasnt being used and then some how one morning I went to my own computer Virgin Modem & Netgear router ( wireless) and all the contents of the problem computer had somehow found its way too my computer BIN????
MY SON SAID HE DIDNT NEED THE STUFF FROM HIS COMPUTER AND SO IT GOT DELETED.
So when he decided to use the computer this is when it started with the error message
No Boot Device detected
THIS COMPUTER WILL NOT START UP AND wont GET PAST THE BLACK SCREEN although No problems in diagnostics in disks were found.
Does anyone know what I can try next Its driving me around the twist Lol
I would be very grateful for any helpat all

Hi Sharon,
Three things I need to help:
1. The model of your Dell.
2. Before you tried booting from the Dell disc, what was the original error?
3. Boot to the BIOS (F2) and tell me if you see a hard disk drive listed in the Drives section of system setup.

6.) USBZIP (NOT PRESENT)
7.) USB - CD ROM ( NOT PRESENT )
8.) USB DRIVE- ( NOT PRESENT )

I think your hard drive has died. Do you have a local computer store or Geek Squad nearby? I suggest you bring it in and let them confirm the diagnosis. If needed, they can replace the drive and re-load the operating system.
