Precision T3600 - PERC H310 XP 32bit Driver & onboard SAS

Hello, I have two questions:

- is there a driver for the PERC H310 SAS controler for XP 32bits? We are unable to find one (seem it not exist..., only found the one for XP 64bits).

- The Precision T3600 seem to have an onboard SAS controler (bios option and specs available in the user manual), but we have no such SAS option in the BIOS, and the three HDD connectors don't work (only the two SATA connector are usable)

Best regards

The Driver lists XP but not 64 bit XP.

64 Bit XP is listed in Earlier versions.

PCI cards in General DO NOT ENUMERATE properly or install without CHIPSET DRIVERS Being installed FIRST.:emotion-3:

Thanks for you answer,

I already have installed Intel Chipset driver.

unfortunately DRVR_SAS_PERC_MSM-DV6JF_setup_ZPE.exe is not a driver but the MegaRAID Application to manage PERC adaptator. This apllication support XP, but not contain any PERC driver.

Driver for H310 XP 32bits does not still exist.

We have a support case open with Dell, they were searching a solution.

Hi!

I have the same problem with the internal Hdd connectors. Did you find out something how to use them?

Best regards

This card may be the rebadged LSI9211-8i

Try this XP 32 bits driver. Please report if it works.

Have the same problem. Thanks @gotcha for the link.

I downloaded the driver, unpacked it and copied the files on a floppy disk (yes, I still have one :emotion-10: )

Tried to install with XP-CD (loaded the driver with F6) - don't work.

There is Limited support for XP F6 drivers

You may have to install the XP then chipset drivers then Service pack 3 Full install.

Then install the RAID Drivers.

Then make an image of that XP and clone onto the Raid Controller with Windows PE and GHOST or some other utility.

Otherwise you may need to slipstream the drivers into an XP install.

Limited OEM driver support is available with F6 during Windows XP ...

When you are installing Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 on a new computer or on a computer that has the latest SCSI or IDE controller technology, you may have to use an OEM device driver to support, for example, a new mass storage controller, to continue with the installation. The symptoms that you have to install an OEM device driver include the following:

  • The computer may keep restarting and never start the GUI installation after the text mode Setup is finished.
  • The Setup program may stop, and you may receive an error message if the Setup program does not correctly detect the controller.
  • If you are booting from the installation floppy disks or CD-ROM disc, you receive the following error message:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your system
If you are upgrading by using the Winnt32.exe file, or if you are performing a new installation by using the Winnt.exe file, you receive the following Stop error:
    Stop 0x0000007B Inaccessible_boot_device

If you require an updated OEM driver to support an existing controller that is natively supported by Windows but is not detected during setup, you must replace the Windows driver for the controller with the new OEM driver. You can find the Windows driver for the controller on one of the six Windows Setup boot disks or in the temporary installation folder ($WIN_NT$.~BT). This replacement allows Windows to use the updated OEM driver during text-mode setup, but you must copy the same updated OEM driver to the System32\Drivers folder of the final Windows installation before the installation continues into graphics-mode setup.

Note that if you choose to format the partition in the NTFS file system during setup, you cannot copy the newer OEM driver into the System32\Drivers folder after text-mode setup finishes. This is because the Windows Setup program formats the partition as NTFS before copying files. To work around this limitation, install Windows into a file allocation table (FAT) partition that is less than 2 GB in size or into a FAT32 partition that is less than 32 GB in size. Doing this allows access by using a startup disk from Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me). After Windows is installed, use the following command to convert the FAT or FAT32 partition to NTFS:

convert c: /fs:ntfs

I know this card is a variant of the Megaraid 9240-8i. But the firmware has been customized for Dell H310 and the strangely also for the H710P in which Dell's drivers are also unified for both cards.  So here is my best guess.

Driver #1 Megaraid 9240-8i

www.lsi.com/.../MID_1419523_XP_x86_Signed_Driver_4.31.1.32.zip

Driver #2 Megaraid 9240-8i

ftp://tsupport:tsupport@ftp0.lsil.com/private/MegaRAID/downloads/MID_1401090_all_Windows_Signed_v4.27.1.32_and_v4.27.1.64.zip

If that doesnt work and you feel brave, you can try to flash the LSI firmware for the Megaraid 9240-8I then try the drivers again. But there are two outcomes here.

1) sasflash will not work because it will detect different hardware and just give you a warning.

2) It may flash because the 9240-8i is so close to the H310

   a. If it flashes and the card still boots without any errors the drivers will most likely work.

   b. If it flashes and the card does not boot, your card is ruined.  SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
