Questions about a new case fan for a Dell Dimension 4600 mobo in a 3000 case

Just a quick question really, I found this particular fan on ebay;

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Dimension-3000-4600-4700-8000-CPU-Case-Fan-NEW-/300283391888?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45ea48ef90

And was curious to know firstly if you guys think it would work in the particular system without pulling up the all too annoying fan failure message and second if the size of this fan would still work with the existing fan shroud. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

It should work, although it is more expensive than this.

It's a myth that Dell uses proprietary fans; as long as the fan is of the correct size, has the correct connector, and has the third wire used for monitoring RPM, there will be no "fan failure" message.

True but what I'm going for in this case is the power. I already replaced the power supply with the Silencer 500W Dell model from Power & Cooling which is working really well it was just a case of the fan is starting to whine and with the processor we put in (Pentium 4 3.4ghz w/ HT) I wanted to put in the biggest and quietiest (this particular fan only going up to around 50dba and startng off at somewhere close to 20) compared to another model. My biggest concern is the width, I know most fan models in a dell are somewhere around 25mm and this one is 38 so that concerned me a tad also the fact that the shroud is needed to draw air from the heat sink and out the back of the machine.
