Rechargeable batteries in wireless mice

I've been using NiMH rechargeable batteries in my Logitech mouse for over a year now without any problems.  As for battery life.... they last longer than regular rechargeables.

Yes, NiMH are fine in mice. When shopping for them, look closely at the rating on them. I've got some as low as 1200 mAh, and some with capacity up to 1800 mAh. I think you can find some with as much as 2100 mAh capacity - more is better!

Thanks for the info.  So can I expect comparable (or better) performance to alkaline batteries.  Microsoft says that alkaline batteries will last "up to six months" in this mouse.  That seems a bit optimistic...but then again it's Microsoft.

It probably is an optimistic prediction on Microsoft's part.  They don't want to kill off the sales of mice with fears of never ending battery replacement.  In the end I suspect the life of the battery would depend on it's use.  With my system I do a lot of surfing on the Internet and game playing so I would be happy if a set of batteries lasted me a month.  Someone else who occasionally surfs the web and doesn't play many games could probably expect a longer battery life.

And to extend battery life, be sure to park the mouse on a light colored or white surface (but not a mirror like reflecting one) when not in use. This will allow the mouse to more quickly and surely go into its power saving sleep mode.

I have to say that six months is a major stretch!  No doubt rechargable batteries are much better but a month is the outside, in my opinion.
