Replacing the harddrive on my Dell inspiron 9400

Hi.

Could anyone help a real novice? I have a four years old Inspiron 9400 with the original 160 GB harddrive with 5400 rpm, and I would like to upgrade it to a larger and faster one. I've found one on the net with these details:

Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9500420ASG - harddrive - 500 GB - SATA-300, 2.5" x 1/8H, 7 cm x 10 cm x 9.5 mm, Serial ATA-300, 300 MBps.

The question is: would it work on my laptop? Is more information on my laptop needed to know?

Thanks

Hi, Pete76:

Yes, that will work. For more help, I'll provide this link to more threads on this commonly asked question.

Good luck!

Welcome to the forums Pete :emotion-21:

Osprey has already answered your question, but for future reference, questions relating to laptop hardware, should be posted in the 'Laptop'/General Hardware section - not in the 'Desktop' section :emotion-55:

There's a far better chance of it being read by those who might be able to answer your questions, or at least offer advice :emotion-5:
