Sata drivers for an XPS 400??
I am trying to install the OS on my XPS 400 and do not have the original cd. Why does Dell make it impossible to find and download the SATA/RAID drivers that are needed to install an OEM copy of Windows XP? Does anybody know where I can get these drivers? I am trying to set up a striped set and the Windows install will not recognize my volume until I go through the F6 routine. Thanks....

Oopsy, my bad. Looking at the revision numbers I assumed that those were just an earlier version of the 32 bit Windows drivers. I will give these a whirl and post back with the results. Thank you!

If you run BIOS setup (F2 when PC starts to boot) and change the SATA controller setting to RAID Autodetect/ATA, you shouldn't have to load the SATA drivers from a floppy disk. Be sure to save the change before exiting BIOS setup.

Thank you Ron, wouldn't you know that that was the one setting I did not try. For some reason I was thinking that ahci was default and Dell certainly would not choose the more complicated setting as the default....silly me! Anyway, thanks again to both of you for the timely responses.

You're welcome. So can we assume the problem is solved? Did you load the SATA drivers from a floppy disk or did you reset BIOS to RAID Autodetect/ATA? Enquiring minds want to know! :emotion-1:

I changed the SATA settings in the BIOS setup to RAID Autodetect/ATA. Works like a charm!!
