Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB for Vista activation issues...

Ok so I have a clean Vista Home Premium install on my XPS 410 and I'm trying to get my sound back up. When attempting to activate the Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB software via the Sound Blaster web site it kicks me to:

https://buy.soundblaster.com/_creativelabsstore/cgi-bin/go.cgi/webstore/license/safecast_reinstall_process

I get the following message: "Your Activation Key for this software is expired. Please contact Customer Support for assistance." Of course customer support is closed at the moment. This is OEM software/hardware, I wasn't aware that it could expire and I'm not sure why the activation is even necessary! I can't get my sound card functioning properly without the software. Whats the deal?

That is an "optional at extra cost item".  Did you buy this with your PC?  If so, it should have came with the installation CD and the activation key.  However, it can be downloaded from the Dell site and that is the version you should be using, not one that came from the SoundBlaster site.

Figured I'd go ahead and jump in with some info I dug up a while ago:

1) Not sure if it's any different since earlier this year, but when the thread below was posted Creative only allowed 3 activations before requiring you to re-register - even on the same PC.  Might have to call Creative directly to get a new key.  Going a bit overboard on the copyright protection if you ask me.

2) Dell customers opting for the free upgrade from XP to Vista had so many complaints that their original MB versions wouldn't work that Dell started offering the MB for free.  Though I think it was meant specifically only for the upgrade customers, it's worth a look.  The link to the download is in here.

IMHO - what a mess.

I'm having the same problem and the posts below yours were of little help.

I've not been able to get the activation process to work for ages now and from what I can gather its due to the number of times you activate the software.

Due to hardware problems before the Vista update had been released I had activated it twice, then when vista arrived it was the third time.

After Installing vista and finding no drivers for my NAS I had to go back to XP so since then its never worked.

Its not been a great bother but now I want to use it and I can't.

No help so far from dell but lets hope that they might get back to me soon!!!
