Switching b/w headset and speakers - Maxx Audio Pro

XPS 8700

Dell Audio Maxx Audio Pro

How can I switch between headphones and speakers without unplugging my speaker cable?

Thanks

Hi Glen2743,

When you plug your headphones into the headphone jack on top of the PC, this should disable the speakers and allow you to hear sound from the headphones. That's the simple approach.

I have a related question.  I use external speakers and sometimes both the internal and external speakers are on.  The only way I know to turn off the internal speakers is to unplug and re-plug the external speakers and then respond 'External Speakers' to Maxx Audio 3 popup.

Is there a way to turn off internal speakers without unplugging and re-plugging the external speakers?

I am using the rear audio jack ... not the side headphone jack.

System is Inspiron One 2330 running Windows 8.1.

Regards,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I'm not too familiar with the audio set up in that system. I would check playback devices in sound and see if there's a device you can disable that would stop the internal speakers from working.

You can't this isn't a supported feature.

You can use a 3.5mm multi out plug and use speakers and headphones at the same time.

When you want the speakers off you turn them off.
