Trouble upgrading RAM on Inspiron One 2305

Need help please!!  I just replaced the 2 2GB RAM cards with 2 4GB RAM cards.  When I power the unit up the computer turns on, but the screen stays blank and flashes in 5 sec increments.  Did I do something wrong?  I was told that this model was upgradable to 8GB RAM.  Could someone help me please?!

Hi Ozwalt15,

Please provide the make and specs of the new RAM modules. You desktop should accommodate two 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800 modules.

The stickers on both of the 4GB say

Samsung 4GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R-9-10-100414

4GB, DDR3, 1333MHz, ECC, REG, SAMSUNG.

You need PC3-12800 or PC3-14900 non-ECC modules. Try the Crucial system scanner. I recommend it just to be sure you're getting the right parts even if you get something else.
