Upgrade options on Dell XPS 710

Hi all,

I figured this would be the place to get this sort of information. So I am running an old Dell XPS 710. Obviously at this point it's starting to be a bit slow for my gaming needs. I was wondering if I have any options for upgrading this (particularly the processor) or if I just need to bite the bullet and get a new one.

Here's what I'm running atm.

Intel Core2 Duo processor E6420 (2.13GHz,1066FSB) w/DualCore

4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz

EVGA Nvidia 9800GTX+ graphics card

I also have a 1000w power supply if that matters,

I know there are some processors that would be upgrades but since they aren't commonly made anymore the ones I have seen run in the $900 range. If that's my only option I'll work on getting a new rig together. Thanks in advance!

How much free space do you have on the hard drive?

Defragged the drive lately?

How much junk is running in the background?

Scanned for malware lately?

Maybe it's time to do a clean reinstall of Windows and get rid of all the garbage that accumulates and slows things down...
