Windows 7 32-bit to Window 7 64-bit upgrade

I would suggest to select the cd/dvd drive in the system BIOS according to the media used for installation.

Then perform a clean installation of windows 7 64 bit by deleting all the partitions. After this if there are any drivers missing then do reply to this post along with the service tag of the system sent via private message so that I can assist you further.

Keep in mind you'll have to buy a new Microsoft Product Key in order to activate 64-bit Win 7 on a system that originally came with 32-bit Win 7. You can't legally use the Product Key from some other system running 64-bit.

You should be able to upgrade from 32-bit OS to Win 10, 64-bit, for free, but it's a 2-step process:

1. Do an in-place upgrade to 32-bit Win 10
2. Wipe the entire hard drive with 32-bit Win 10, and do clean install of 64-bit Win 10

Either way, to be safe, you should make a full image of the HDD with Win 7, 32-bit, before wiping and installing any other version.

Make sure you have the installation disks and product keys for any software you'll want to install after upgrading the OS

And one more caveat: Dell hasn't tested the 760 for compatibility with Win 10. Doesn't mean it won't  work, but it might take a little bit of extra effort to find all the right hardware drivers.

Buy a Dell reinstallation DVD on eBay. It should activate automatically.

As for legalities, there is a Windows 7 license bound to your motherboard, and it can be used with either 32- or 64-bit, as long as it's the same version (Starter, Home, Professional, or Ultimate) and there is only one installation on the computer. Win 7 product keys are interchangeable between 32- and 64-bit.

You can't upgrade 32- to 64-bit, but you can use Windows Easy Transfer to transfer your files and settings. (You will need to reinstall your applications.) You don't need to reformat the hard drive; Windows will automatically archive your old Windows installation in a Windows.old folder upon a clean install.

The problem is you can't download a Windows 7 64 Bit OEM installation .iso to clean install Windows 7 64 Bit and so would need to have a Retail .iso downloaded in advance or a 64 Bit Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD or a Retail Windows 7 64 Bit Installation DVD...

You can however download a Windows 10 64 Bit TH2 Beta .iso to clean install Windows 10 64 Bit TH2 Beta:

TH2 Beta will accept your Windows 7 OEM product key. It works well but is prerelease software I expect TH2 to be released on the maintrack in about a month.

There are zero cross platform upgrades from 32 to 64 for ANY version of windows

XP VISTA 7 8 10..  To change this requires a 100 percent clean install.

There is no key difference so all you need is the Dell OEM Windows 7 64 bit media for your version HOME or PRO of windows.

These can occasionally be found on ebay but they are now often DVDRW copies and not the actual Disc.
