XPS 2710 brightness control not working anymore including using settings

Hi, I'm not able to change brightness anymore on my XPS 2710 8.1 64 bit. Both settings and capacitive touch buttons don't work anymore. I installed all drivers including Intel and GeForce drivers from their site but doesn't work either (note those are newer than Dell's support site). I called Dell support but they want to charge money even though the capacitive touch buttons never worked for me (ok when I was at Windows 8 but on and off after 8.1). I also uninstalled the OSD driver, rebooted, reinstalled OSD but still doesn't work. BIOS is also up to date to A12 and both Intel and Nvidia display drivers are from January/February. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks, Luc

I was able to fix it doing this (not sure if all steps are critical): 1) Use control panel add/remove programs to remove all Dell programs including OSD (important since running OSD to uninstall didn't work for me) 2) Shut down computer (restart shoot work as well but I did that before to no avail) 3) Boot computer. At this point the capacitive lights came up and brightness could be adjusted using capacitive settings. Weird enough it also showed audio volume selection but didn't work 4) Install OSD app from support dell com and Intel IME (I don't think last one is required) 5) shut down 6) boot up and both worked again. The audio setting disappeared from OSD and left 2 capacitive buttons immediately adjust brightness without showing any OSD screen (before I got onscreen menu for adjustments)

I noticed capacitive touch buttons stopped working after getting out of hibernate:-(. They don't light up or respond. When I fully shut down they worked again. I hope Dell fixes this. It used to work fine before with hibernate.

@LUC4- I have that exact same issue! Is there anything you did to fix it? It is extremely inconvenient.

It works for me now even in hibernate mode. See above what I did to fix it. Basically install latest drivers from Intel and NVidia site and reboot. Then I uninstalled the existing Dell OSD driver and rebooted. Then I reinstalled OSD from Dell web site and rebooted again. Here are drivers I have now (checking device manager): Intel HD 4000: 1/29/2014, V10.18.10.3412 NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M: 3/4/2014, V9.18.13.3523
